Softball pitcher Meghan Brown and swimmer David Sharpe will carry Nova Scotia’s flag at the Canada Games.

Brown, from Lower Onslo, Colchester Co., will lead the blue and white into the opening ceremonies in Summerside, P.E.I., on Aug. 15, while Sharpe, from Halifax, will do the same for the closing ceremonies on Aug. 29 in Charlottetown.

Brown, 18, was the top pitcher at the 2006 Eastern Canadian midget championships and an all-star at the same event in 2007. Sharpe, also 18, will start his freshman season with the Dalhousie Tigers in the fall. He set 36 provincial records in a one-year span starting in April 2008 and also won four medals at the Canadian age group championships in July.
