Nova Scotia’s Department of Energy confirmed yesterday it’s asking for $375 million in federal contributions for an underwater power transmission line connecting the province to Newfoundland and Labrador. Department spokeswoman Nancy Watson confirmed the number after it was released by the Newfoundland-based Nalcor Energy in a media scrum.
The province refused to disclose the request to reporters last week.
Watson said she doesn’t expect the disclosure to hurt negotiations with the feds.
