Public invited to visit Mackenzie King’s estate

Those interested in the life and career of Canada’s 10th prime minister can visit his estate starting this weekend in Gatineau Park.

William Lyon Mackenzie King’s 231-hectare estate will officially open to the public Saturday, with the season running until Oct. 18.

Visitors can see King’s two restored summer cottages, Kingswood and Moorside, walk through the Victorian gardens and picturesque trails, and view films on his life.

“The estate is really a national gem,” said Marilyne Guèvremont from the National Capital Commission.
Summer hours of operation are weekdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Tuesdays, and weekends and statutory holidays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
