The QMJHL wrapped up a two-game sweep of Russia in the first leg of the Canadian Hockey League’s Subway Super Series with an 8-3 win last night in Shawinigan, Que.
Cape Breton Screaming Eagles left-winger Luke Adam piled up two goals and two assists while the QMJHL exploded for five goals in the second period. Jacob Lagace (goal, three assists) and Nicolas Deschamps (goal, two assists) of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens also starred in the win.
Maxime Clermont and Louis Domingue shared the win in goal.
The QMJHL also beat Russia 3-1 on Monday night and is now 9-3-2 in the event’s seven-year history.
The series’ next stop is in Barrie, Ont., on Monday, with the Ontario Hockey League hosting Russia.
