Former Dartmouth Subways forward Michael Kirkpatrick was among the opening-weekend scoring stars as the QMJHL playoffs got underway on Friday and Saturday.
Kirkpatrick had two goals and two assists, but his Saint John Sea Dogs dropped a pair of games to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the best-of-seven first round.
The Moncton Wildcats have jumped out to a 2-0 series lead over the P.E.I. Rocket in the other all-Atlantic Division matchup, while Drummondville, Shawinigan, Quebec, Rimouski and Gatineau are also halfway to first-round sweeps.
Montreal and Rouyn-Noranda are tied 1-1.
