Quebec teen in critical condition after car-surfing tragedy; driver charged

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. – A Quebec teenager underwent surgery Tuesday for life-threatening head injuries sustained after falling from a moving vehicle in another case of car-surfing.

Provincial police say the 17-year-old was sitting on either the trunk or the roof of the car when she fell.

The teen is in critcal condition.

Jessica Gauthier, 18, has been charged with dangerous driving causing injury.

The incident occurred in Drummondville, midway between Montreal and Quebec City.

Police say four women were riding on the car.

The injury comes a few weeks after 38-year-old Kevin Ducharme died following his tumble from the roof of a moving car in Montreal.

The driver of that vehicle has been charged with various charges including criminal negligence and hit and run.
