Rainmen bid goodbye to all-star Ervin

The Halifax Rainmen have lost starting point guard Gary Ervin to a professional club in Australia.

Ervin, the most valuable player of the Premier Basketball League all-star game earlier this year, has signed with the Wollongong Hawks of the National Basketball League.

“I’m here to play hard, work with the guys and really showcase my talents down under,” Ervin said in a Hawks press release.

Ervin averaged 15.4 points, 6.5 assists and 6.5 rebounds and was a perennial triple-double threat.

The Rainmen may look to Adris DeLeon to replace him. The young guard was coming on strong for the Rainmen through 10 games last season before leaving Halifax to join the Dominic Republic national team.

The Rainmen made sure to include DeLeon on their five-man protected list submitted to the PBL earlier this month.
