Rainmen lose top player for big games

The Halifax Rainmen will hit the road for a couple of key weekend games without one of their best players.

Brian Silverhorn, the Rainmen’s second-leading scorer and most dangerous outside threat, will stay in Halifax because of a knee injury.

The Rainmen (3-1) leave Thursday morning to face the Vermont Frost Heaves on Friday and the Manchester Millrats on Sunday. The games could shift the balance of power in the Premier Basketball League’s Atlantic Division.

Silverhorn, a 6-foot-6 small forward, was the PBL’s player of the week last week and is averaging 18 points per game.

Rainmen forward David Bailey, who hurt his knee in Sunday’s loss to the Montreal Sasquatch, is getting treatment this week and should be ready to play by Friday.
