A sense of celebration hung in the air at a rally supporting Israel in Toronto yesterday as Gaza entered a weeklong ceasefire, but there was unease behind the optimism as people on both sides of the dispute expressed doubt that one week would bring about any real change.

Hundreds of people descended upon a Yonge-Dundas square for a boisterous student-led demonstration.

But people both at the large pro-Israel rally and a small group across the street protesting Israel’s actions in Gaza say they’re skeptical that the ceasefire will change much of anything.
