Q: What is your fondest memory from your family kitchen?

A: Starting off cooking with grandma (in Mobile, Ala.) when I was seven years old. I can always remember waking up in the morning and smelling the food on the stove.

Q: What kitchen aromas bring back fond memories?

A: The smell of my grandma’s peach cobbler and sweet potato pies take me back to a time when I was a young kid.

Q: How did the first meal you prepared turn out?

A: I used to sit in the kitchen and watch my grandma and mom cook. I’m a quick learner. When I tried to cook my first meal I followed my grandma’s advice and didn’t use measurements. She always told me to go by taste. I did and the first meal turned out really good. Now, I use cookbooks to expand my horizons. I love to watch cooking shows like Rachel Ray, Iron Chef and Emeril.
