RCMP, border guards make largest heroin bust in Alberta

The largest heroin bust in Alberta history — 7.8 kilograms, or approximately $2.3 million in street value — was seized at Calgary International Airport last Wednesday by RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency.

CBSA spokesperson Lisa White said the quantity is surprising and commends the officers involved. “One thing led to another. Our officers are vigilant in keeping drugs out of the country and off the streets,” she added.

Canadians Bakshish Singh Ghai and Aneelvir Grewal, en route to Calgary from international destinations, were charged with importation of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
