The RCMP is reminding motorists to drive safely this holiday weekend or possibly pay a price for it.

Titled Operation Impact, this road safety initiative sees RCMP from across the province targeting things like seat belt usage, drinking and driving and speeding throughout the Th- anksgiving Day weekend.

“Quite frankly fatalities and injuries that result from impaired and reckless driving and the failure of people to buckle up are 100 per cent preventable,” Insp. Sput McCarthy, officer in charger of Nova Scotia traffic services for the RCMP, said in a release.

Holiday weekends result in higher vehicle volumes on the roads, meaning a higher number of driving and traffic violations, according to police.
