A 16-year-old boy “asking to be killed” was Tasered by Coquitlam RCMP Thursday, police said.

Mounties responding to a call about several men fighting were told that one of them had a knife. They were also told that one of the men involved wanted to commit suicide.

A 16-year-old boy, with blood on his sweater and face, stood nearby and shouted at police that he wanted to be killed, according to RCMP Cpl.

Peter Thiessen. He added the boy was recognized as someone recently arrested by Coquitlam officers.

Fearing the youth was armed, police asked him repeatedly to lay down, but were ignored, police said. Mounties then Tasered him.

The boy had earlier been reported missing from his youth home in Burnaby.
