City officials presented a “cool tool” yesterday they believe will aid commuters trying to navigate their way through wintry conditions.

Residents can now head online and view Calgary’s new interactive road conditions map, which will be constantly updated by snow-removal crews on the ground, said city roads spokesperson Sean Somers.

In the future, the map will also include updates on road accidents and lane closures, he said.

“The motivation for us behind this is really to empower citizens to make decisions in terms of how they get to work,” Somers said.

“We are no longer relying totally on TV or radio updates anymore.”
