Record numbers for Army Run

More than 14,000 people ran, walked or rolled out for the Canada Army Run yesterday, up from 11,000 last year.

Two courses, a five-kilometre run and a half-marathon, helped ensure everyone could participate in the event, which raises money for Soldier On and the Military Families Fund.

Mayor Larry O’Brien laced up his running shoes for the 5K run, as he has every year since the Army Run began in 2008.

“It’s just great to see the city of Ottawa celebrating the military,” he said. “I’ve been with it for three years and this is the biggest and best yet.”
