A safety board official says recovery of the wreckage of the plane that dropped from radar near Sydney last week may be difficult.

Mike Cunningham, regional manager for air investigations with the Transport Safety Board of Canada, said it is odd that no debris has been found.

A Cessna 414A carrying 43-year-old Dennis Forgeron, formerly of Sydney, and fellow pilot Ronald David Johnston, 57, of Calgary, disappeared from radar late Thursday about 15 kilometres off Dominion beach in the Atlantic Ocean.

The two men are now presumed dead and a rescue effort turned into a recovery effort Saturday afternoon.
