The hottest colour to be sporting at your company holiday party or function this year is bright red.
It is time again to tie one on, a red ribbon that is, as the 2009 MADD Red Ribbon campaign has kicked off Thursday, reminding people not to drink and drive.
“It is very frustrating that impaired driving still happens,” said Connie Blackport, a member of the Edmonton and area chapter of MADD.
The effects of drinking and driving are devastating and MADD Canada and the Edmonton Police Service want to make sure that no one has to go through that this holiday season.
“Every story is painful, nobody should have to go through the pain of dealing with the lose of somebody due to an impaired driver,” said Blackport.
The red ribbons are conveniently designed to attach to cars, purses, pin to jackets, and can even be used to accessorize that holiday party outfit.
From now until the first Monday after Jan. 1, drivers are encouraged to pick up their bright red ribbons to display on their vehicles to remind others not to drink and drive.
“We are hoping to see many of them out,” said Blackport. “Everybody should sport one.”
