Refinery shutdown leads to Alberta gas shortage

Up to fifty Petro-Canada gas stations are dry at any one point according to Sneh Seetal.

The company is bringing in thirty-two rail cars of gasoline from Montreal to try deal with the shortage created from a two-day shutdown of a refinery in Edmonton. That shutdown, caused by storm damage suffered on July 18, combined with the high demand for gas in the summer is still causing many gas stations in across Alberta to run dry.

“It will take some time to catch up,” Seetal said, adding he couldn’t say when that would be.
