Yesterday was supposed to be the wrap-up for Ottawa’s third annual reggae festival.

But, rather than a crowd of music fans at Lebreton Flats, there were only disgruntled vendors who couldn’t leave the site fast enough.

After paying thousands of dollars for a licence to sell their goods on-site, many vendors are leaving the festival having sold almost nothing.

As he was setting up his stall to sell frozen treats, Dan Uzoaba heard the rumours that the headlining acts for the festivals had backed out.

Friday night’s attendance was poor, said Ras Lee, who was scheduled to perform on Sunday.

With no money left to pay the performers and the sound crew, yesterday’s show was cancelled.
