B.C. Place’s new retractable roof is front and centre as part of the 2011 Grey Cup logo unveiled Thursday in Surrey.

The logo is an updated version of the one used in 2005, the last time the B.C. Lions hosted the championship game. It is cast in the Lions’ orange, black and grey and also features snowcapped mountains and whitecaps.

Moray Keith, chair of the 2011 Grey Cup organizing committee, said it was important to highlight the revamped B.C. Place in the logo.

“We are thrilled at the prospect of being the first major event planned for what will be Canada’s premier sporting venue,” Keith said Thursday in a release.

Keith, alongside B.C. Lions president and CEO Dennis Skulsky and Grey Cup general manager Scott Ackles, also unveiled the 27-member organizing committee. Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson and former mayor Senator Larry Campbell are among the organizers.
