Regular readers of Metro’s style pages will know that we just can’t get enough of the retro-tennis chic that erupted this spring courtesy of a few long-standing European sports brands — namely ellesse, Lacoste and adidas (via their Stella McCartney collection).
For us, this trend is marking a highlight in what we’ve found is an otherwise deadly boring summer shopping season (after all, how many white tops and pairs of cork wedges can a girl look at?).
So we’re downright thrilled that yet a fourth Euro sport brand is set to make a fashion comeback, too.
Yep, it’s none other than Tretorn, the Swedish line with the iconic “gullwing” mark that adorned white sneakers everywhere in the 1980s (we wore those shoes with our Daniel Hechter and Beaver Canoe gear — does that date us horribly?).
At any rate, Tretorn’s fall Gullwing lineup is going to be available at select stores across Canada come August. If you just can’t wait until August, you can always head to the US online shop at www.tretorn.com(though personally, we’re not big fans of buying footwear over the Internet).
We also really dig Tretorn’s lineup of rubber boots, in particular a tall, laceup style called Ballena, which we’re pretty sure we saw Gwyneth Paltrow wearing in a photo snapped backstage at a concert in England. We’ll take ours in teal blue.
