Renovations to an Abbotsford church five years ago may have weakened the floor that collapsed under the weight of a crowd during a Christian rock concert.
Investigators are looking at renovations done on Central Heights church’s office space and basement storage rooms, CBC News Online reports.
More than 40 people were injured, two seriously, after the floor caved in on Friday.
Jay Teichroeb, the city’s economic development manager, said investigators are also examining whether there are structural flaws.
Doug Hills, an independent structural engineer, said the rhythmic vibration of dancing could also have caused the collapse.
