NOTE: This story was based on a report that, while presented as a factual news story, was published on a prank “ABC News” website with an Associated Press dateline that appeared on Google News. We regret the error.

A fake report indicated that Charlotte Hornets owner and NBA God Michael Jordan told reporters Friday that he intended to move the team from North Carolina, unless the state revokes its controversial law banning transgender individuals from using the bathroom corresponding to their gender. Jordan made no such remarks.

“With this new law in place, North Carolina currently does not have any anti-discrimination protection in place, something that is vital, not just for our fans but for everyone,” Jordan was falsely quoted as saying in the report. “We are giving the state of North Carolina 30 days to repeal this law or they can expect the the Charlotte Hornets to play elsewhere. I want to make it clear that the Hornets and myself will not stand for this type of intolerance and hate.”
