The potential location for a new, larger Woodlawn Library is now between Penhorn Mall and its current home, Woodlawn Mall.
Halifax Public Libraries held a community meeting last night to present results of a study on the expansion of the Woodlawn Library branch.
The final presentation recommended a new, fully functional library three times its current size. It also suggested the library invite proposals from the landlords of Woodlawn and Penhorn malls and start negotiating with them.
“They both rank really high in the criteria, (which includes) factors like accessibility, location, size, visibility, distance from other branches,” said Helena Sergakis, spokeswoman for Halifax Public Libraries.
A library press release says a larger location will allow it to offer more community programs, better access to library services such as computers, and a more comprehensive collection.
