A fire destroyed a two-storey single-family residence south of Osgoode yesterday.

“The building looks like a total loss,” said Ottawa District Fire Chief Ron Gervais.

The fire, which broke out in a stone farmhouse, was called in at 2:30 p.m. yesterday. Gervais said the flames were visible in the second floor at 4356 Second Line Rd.

“There was no one home at the time,” he said. “The people were out of town.”

Gervais could not say whether arson was suspected.
