A year after Dylan Koshman vanished from his south Edmonton home, his family and local police are still keeping the search alive.
“It’s a mother’s and a family’s determination,” said Koshman’s mother, Melanie Alix. “Each one of my children means the world to me. I can’t imagine not doing everything I possibly can in my lifetime to try and find him and restore some peace to me and my family.”
The 21-year-old was last seen on Oct. 11, 2008, when he wandered away from his residence after an argument with is roommates in the middle of the night.
“It’s been an ongoing investigation that we’ve been working on for the last year,” said Edmonton Police Service missing persons unit Const. Sean Jenkinson. “As the one-year anniversary approaches, we’re making another appeal to the public for any information that will help us in our investigation.”
Police have received information as the investigation has evolved and now they’re hoping new details will be revealed, Jenkinson added.
“For us as a unit, this has been a really unique experience,” he said. “I speak weekly, sometimes multiple times in a week, with Dylan’s mom. Sometimes the family can generate assistance from the public better then police can so it’s been a great job by them.”
A candle-light vigil will be held at 10404 – 33 Ave. on Sunday evening. Alix said she hopes the lights will act as a beacon for her lost son.
“There’s a big link missing in this family chain and we just want to know where he is. We need to know,” she said. “In my heart I know someone knows something that they’re not saying.”
