Riders air grievances

Bus riders have been frustrated with delays going through downtown and the extended shutdown of the O-Train recently.

Those were just some of the complaints heard at the first of a series of customer appreciation events held at Terry Fox Station in Kanata yesterday morning.

Upbeat music, the Transecure Owl, Mayor Larry O’Brien, coffee and muffins were waiting for bus riders passing through the station. O’Brien and Kanata North Coun. Marianne Wilkinson came out to hear what bus riders thought of the service and to encourage people to sign up to win an annual bus pass or one of five monthly passes.

The customer appreciation days are an annual event to thank riders for taking the bus, said Brigitte Bitar, customer service events specialist with OC Transpo.

Four more events are taking place at various transit stations around the city over the next two weeks.

The events run from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Fallowfield Station tomorrow, South Keys Station Friday, Hurdman Station on Aug. 17 and Place d’Orléans Station Aug. 19.
