Rising star returns to CCMA open mic

Up-and-coming music artist Tenille Nadkrynechny, 16, has come a long way from performing at the Canadian Country Music Association’s Open Mic Night two years ago — she will be hosting it alongside multi-award winner Jamie Warren this year.

“Open Mic is a really exciting night because it gives anybody participating in the week an opportunity to come up and show us who they are,” said the Grande Prairie native. “So to be able to assist and be part of that is an honour for me.”

Singing Shania Twain songs while still in diapers, and performing on stage at local venues from a young age, Nadkrynechny is about to release an album of songs she has written or co-written.

“It’s called Real. It’s about all the situations that I’ve been through or I’ve seen and have been fortunate to write about, and it’s dedicated to the people that keep me real,” she explained.
