The provincial government said yesterday the reuse of single-use syringes at an Alberta hospital only resulted in a low risk to public health.

The comments come after a review into a High Prairie health centre that was reusing the needles.

The provincial assessment was ordered after more incidents occurred in Vermillion and Lloydminster. Blood tests were offered to about 1,300 former patients who might have been at risk of infection, thought the results are not completed yet.
