Ritz-Carlton Toronto marks anniversary

TORONTO – The Ritz-Carlton Toronto, the swanky 53-storey hotel/condo building that opened February 2011 across from Roy Thomson Hall, is marking its one-year anniversary with what it calls “luxury travel experiences” — although over-the-top might be a better description.

Like a food experience that starts at $3,000 per couple. This involves one day spent in the company of chef Tom Brodi visiting farms and markets to select ingredients for him to whip up at dinnertime in the hotel’s Toca restaurant.

And spa sessions starting at $950 per person. These include, among other things, yoga, a facial, manicure and pedicure, plus a Champagne and caviar lunch.

The Ritz-Carlton is the city’s only AAA five-diamond hotel. Rooms go for $495 a night and up.
