Roads closed for torch relay

Some of downtown Vancouver’s major roads and pedestrian corridors will be closed today and Friday to accommodate the Paralympic torch relay and opening ceremonies at B.C. Place.

The torch relay route loops through Robson, Granville and Smithe streets, bringing with it closures and traffic restrictions for several blocks along Robson, Smithe, Howe, Granville and Bute streets.

On Friday, the Georgia Viaduct and Cambie Bridge will be closed from 10 a.m. to midnight, as will Quebec Street southbound from Keefer Street to Pacific Boulevard, and portions of Beatty and Robson streets.

Expo and Pacific boulevards remain closed until March 16.

Temporary pedestrian corridors will also be in effect Friday between noon and midnight on parts of Expo Boulevard, and Georgia, Granville, Hamilton, Robson and Smithe streets.
