Robber jumps counter, demands cigarettes

Suspect put in custody about three hours later

Police arrested a suspect early this morning believed to be involved in a Highland Park Drive convenience story robbery.

Police say a man entered the store just before 1 a.m. this morning and asked for cigarettes. He then jumped the counter and told the clerk to put cigarettes in a bag.

He fled the scene on foot, but he didn't stay on the run for long.

Police say officers found the man at about 4 a.m.

The 26-year-old man faces a charge of robbery.
