Robber of unlucky convenience store in court

A 29-year-old Ottawa man appeared in court Monday morning to face charges in connection with a robbery at a west-end convenience store, infamous for its repeated holdups of late.

Ottawa police arrested a man shortly after midnight following the short foot chase of a suspect after the Food Frenz convenience store at 2910 Carling was robbed at knife point.

This was the sixth time Food Frenz has been robbed since February 7. In response, police have been using many resources and strategies to prevent and apprehend individuals attempting these activities at this location. These strategies will continue despite this recent arrest.

The Ottawa Police Robbery Unit has confirmed that, at this time, it appears the individual is responsible for only one robbery at this location.

Edward Grosse is facing numerous charges, including robbery, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and breach of probation.

Grosse is also wanted on outstanding arrest warrants from British Columbia and Ontario.

Police continue to ask for the public’s assistance in helping to solve the other outstanding robberies that have occurred at Food Frenz convenience store and in the immediate area.
