Robertson relishes role

Hamilton’s Kathleen Robertson stars as Amy in Jeff Stephenson’s romantic drama Not Since You, in which friends who knew each other at university gather for a wedding. Many have changed through the years, but not Amy. She’s the strong core of the group and partnered with a man she loves. She’s shocked by her emotions when an old beau shows up. Robertson said she couldn’t say no to the role.

“I don’t usually get the opportunity to play somebody so healthy. She’s the healthiest psychologically, mentally, she’s about simplicity, she’s a teacher, grounded, sensible, and I never play these characters. I usually play dark and complicated. That’s why I really wanted to play her.”

You have a lot on the go, producing, writing and starring in film and TV scripts with your husband (producer Chris Cowles) including a TV series for Global/Shaw called Your Time Is Up.

“We have a couple of things. I’m writing a lot and have set up a couple things, and it’s been really amazing to write. I did a movie in Cuba called Gravity’s Pull, the first thing I co-wrote. It was really fun and it’s a Canadian film…”

How was working in the Golden Globes-nominated series Boss, with Kelsey Grammer

“It’s pretty mind blowing, he’s unbelievable in it, and the show is amazing. It’s my first television series, and it’s really incredible that we (were) nominated for two Golden Globes… (Kelsey Grammer won for best actor in a television series).
