A day-room was still on lockdown yesterday following another violent incident at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside.
An inmate is recovering from potentially life-threatening injuries he sustained from a fight at the jail.
Halifax Regional Police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter said officers were dispatched to the jail Friday at 4:16 a.m. — several hours after the fight happened.
“We are compiling a list of people we believe may be involved,” he said.
“We have a couple leads that we’re following.”
Palmeter said the 39-year-old inmate suffered head injuries, but couldn’t offer more details of what happened or what motivated the fight.
Department of Justice spokeswoman Donna Chislett said yesterday a lockdown in the unit where the fight happened was now only for one day-room as staff continue to investigate.
