While police say their officers may infiltrate activist groups during the Olympics, security officers say their agents will not provoke others into violence.
In a statement issued yesterday, the president of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA), Rob Holmes, said he was pleased with the promises the Vancouver Integrated Security Unit (VISU) has made, but remains skeptical of what the security unit would not agree to.
According to Holmes, the BCCLA has tried repeatedly to get VISU president Bud Mercer to agree to basic rules for undercover agents, but both parties have yet to come to terms on any formal plan.
