Rush aiming for most successful season yet

As any true Canadian would know, lacrosse is Canada’s official national sport and it is getting ready to kick into high gear as another exciting season is about to begin in the city of Edmonton.

With a team that has recorded more losses than wins during the franchise’s four-year history, it make sense that the Edmonton Rush’s roster has undergone a major reshuffling.

“We have had a tremendous amount of turnover in player personnel but I think we made a lot of positive changes,” said Derek Keenan, the new general manager and head coach of the Edmonton Rush.

With the Portland LumberJax franchise closing up shop, the Rush were able to pick up some quality players, including all-star Brodie Merrill, who was picked first in the dispersal draft.

“We are going to play a really up-tempo style lacrosse so I think it is going to be exciting and we are going to have success,” said Keenan.

Many of the new players have played together before, so it should be no time before they are putting up big numbers on the scoreboard.

“We are big, strong, fast and we have a lot of grit too, so I think those are the things that are going to help us be a successful team,” said Keenan.

The National Lacrosse League is set to hit Rexall Place for the Rock’s home game of the season on Jan. 23 against the Buffalo Bandits.
