The Saint Mary’s Huskies went back to their bread and butter to finally break their goose-egg in the win column.
The Huskies, one of the country’s top rushing teams the past few seasons, piled up a mind-boggling 454 yards on the ground along with three rushing touchdowns on Friday at Huskies Stadium as they trounced the Acadia Axemen 45-10.
In their three prior games, all losses, the Huskies had totalled just 239 rushing yards.
The all-star running-back tandem of Craig Leger (134 yards) and Devon Jones (109 yards and a touchdown) led the dominating effort.
The Huskies are tied with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men, also 1-3, for last in Atlantic University Sport.
