It’s the hottest day of the year but a breeze flows from the harbour onto the shaded patio at Ristorante aMano. Service here is excellent.

We start with the Calamaretti — tiny calamari, flash fried and served with lemon and roasted garlic aioli. It’s a bit heavy on the batter although the seafood is tender. The dipping sauce is delish but we soon run out.

I have the Salsiccia Pizza, a perfect thin and crispy crust topped with flavourful homemade Italian sausage, sweet caramelized onions, a tasty tomato sauce and a good amount of mozzarella. After a sprinkling of hot pepper flakes, this pizza queen declares it delightful.

My pal’s Spaghettini con Polpette, spaghettini noodles with spicy meatballs, tomato sauce, parmigiano and mozzarella, is rich in flavour although a tad salty. It’s a large serving so we take some home along with a leftover slice of pizza for lunch another day.
