Support staff at Saint Mary’s University have ratified a tentative three-year contract.
The Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union, which represents the university support staff that includes library assistants, clerks, secretaries and web developers, say 89 per cent voted in favour of the tentative agreement reached with Saint Mary’s on May 11.
The agreement, retroactive to July 1, 2009, sees wage increases of 2.9 per cent in the first year and two per cent in the second and third years. The NSGEU says “small improvements” were also made in vacation, standby and tuition benefits.
The two sides had been bargaining since December.
