A few lucky children got to join Santa, minus nine reindeer, on his test flights around the city yesterday as he prepared for his big run on Thursday night.
The TELUS corporate jet was converted into Santa’s sleigh yesterday as eight Make-A-Wish children and their families were taken on a chance of a lifetime flight around the city.
“It is just magical memories being created,” said Kevyn McGregor, vice-president for TELUS Communications Edmonton.
The three 45-minute flights jetted out of the City Centre Airport and despite the weather clouding the view of the city, excitement soared to new heights.
The morning was packed with crafts and entertainment for the children and finished off with some quality time with Santa and Ms. Claus on the jet.
“It really gives the kids a chance to just be kids and that gets them away from having to deal with the life-threatening illnesses these kids are dealing with,” said McGregor.
The Santa Flights have been taking place in Edmonton for the past four years and have been giving children with life threatening medical condition an unforgettable experience to share with their families.
“It really brings back the true meaning of joy and that wonderful spirit of the holiday season,” said McGregor.
