Sarah and Bristol Palin attack 'double standards' in Josh Duggar coverage

Lena Dunham's sex antics with her sister were laughed off, they say.

Former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her daughter, Bristol, have jumped to the defense of the Duggar family and are taking “Girls” creator Lena Dunham along for the ride, whether she likes it or not.

The Tea Party Republican is lashing out at coverage of the scandal involving now 27-year-old Josh Duggar, who molested four of his sisters and a fifth girl when he was 14 and 15.

The media is on a "hell-bent mission to go after the entire Duggar family for one member’s wrongdoing, while giving a total pass to perverted actions of someone like Lena Dunham," said Sarah.

Sarah echoed a post by Bristol that cited a passage in Lena Dunham's memoir, "Not That Kind of Girl," in which the actress wrote of inappropriate youthful touching of her sister, Grace, who is six years younger.

“I can’t believe how crazy the media is going over the Duggar family compared to the big fat yawn they gave Lena Dunham when she wrote in her book that she sexually experimented with her sister,” Bristol Palin said.

Sarah, in a Facebook post, labeled Dunham a "pedophile."

“I’m not defending the Duggar boy's obvious wrongdoing over a decade ago. The main victim in any story like this isn't the perpetrator, it's the innocent ones so harmfully affected. I’m not an apologist for any sexual predator, but I’m sickened that the media gives their chosen ones a pass for any behavior as long as they share their leftwing politics.

"Case in point, they suggest Lena Dunham's sexual assault on her sibling is cute, and she's rewarded for it with fame and fortune. Meanwhile, they crucify another, along with an entire family.”

The Duggars have said that they believe they are being treated extra harshly by the media because of their Christian beliefs and Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Josh’s parents, complained on Fox the other night that their son’s record was illegally leaked.

Jim Bob Duggar said there should be more protections on juvenile records and suggested a retiring Arkansas law enforcement officer who is a Democrat did in their son.

The family’s critics have slammed the stars of TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” as hypocrites for judging, among others, the LGBT community as sinners and potential predators.

Michelle Duggar recently recorded political robocalls urging voters NOT to extend protections against discrimination to the local LGBT community.

When the Josh Duggar blockbuster broke, he apologized for his youthful transgressions and quit his job teenage at the Family Research Council, a right-wing conservative group that is fighting against LGBT anti-discrimination legislation and gay marriage.

TLC pulled "19 Kids and Counting" from the air for now and has not said whether it will return.

Sarah wrote that the story was the result of a “shocking, unethical leak of a private, legally protected counseling document by a politically motivated law enforcement official. Media - time to go after her or him for illegalities and for destroying the public's trust in law enforcement.”

“Such obvious double standards applied to equally relevant stories underestimate the wisdom of the public, discredit the press, and spit on the graves of every American who fought and died for the press's freedom."
