Sarah’s timeless over trendy style

Sarah Slean, singer/songwriter, her latest album The Baroness is in stores now, Sarah starts a national tour on April 30:

Q: What products make you look and feel good?

A: There’s no substitute for my favourite four: sleep, love, good food and exercise. I’m also a believer in Dermalogica gentle cleansing gel, sensitive skin-friendly Face Atelier cosmetics, a dash of Coco Chanel and Redoxon dissolvable effervescent vitamin B tablets — they taste like popsicles.

Q: Describe your style.

A: I find the classic glamour of women like Audrey Hepburn and Cate Blanchett particularly inspiring — timeless over trend! That being said, sometimes, you just want to wear your running shoes and a hoodie.

Q: How do you keep life in perspective?

A: Going to class (I’m currently finishing my degree) reminds me that life is vast and richly diverse — there are so many universes out there. It becomes impossible, with that perspective, to become mired in the dramas of your own little microcosm.

Q: What are your healthy eating habits?

A: Veggies, fruits, whole grains, a little fish, no meat… nothing revolutionary! And of course all-natural peanut butter — I consider it a food group.

Trevor Boris, comedian, juror on Video on Trial, airing Mondays 6 p.m. on MuchMusic:

Q: Describe your style.

A: I would call my style — “trying too hard to fit in and it shows.” I do try and follow fashion trends but am sometimes up to three years behind. By the way… have you heard of these awesome new shoes, I think they’re called ‘Crocs’?

Q: What products make you look and feel good?

A: I would be nothing without my hair product. It’s called Fudge moulding crème. Most of my power comes from my hair. I’d also feel and look pretty bad without soap and toothpaste

Q: How do you stay fit?

A: I do have a gym membership but I only have it so I can get out of MuchMusic for an hour to watch Oprah. Then, I sit in the steam room for another hour. I don’t know if that’s a regimen, but it seems to be working for me.

Q: What things make life easier?

A: Well, I just bought one of those ‘easy buttons,’ which I thought would help me out. I think it’s busted because when I press it, it just says “that was easy” but doesn’t actually do anything for me. My big screen TV makes my life easier and relaxes me, except when I’m watching the Leafs play.
