Trying to make a few extra bucks on websites like Kijiji? Beware, say RCMP: Fraudsters are targeting online.
They’ll email you about the item you’ve posted for sale, and then send you a counterfeit bank draft supposedly worth more than what you’re charging for the item.
The fraudsters ask you to cash the bank draft, and return the extra money to an address outside the country. Don’t do it; call police.
RCMP say you should always know the buyer’s name, street address and phone number. Never take a cherub for more than selling prices. Don’t ever agree to wire funds back to a buyer, and resist any urging to act now.
