Scharf wants city more accountable

It’s all about accountability for mayoral candidate Jane Scharf.

“I see a lot of things that need to be cleaned up and nobody seems to be doing anything about it,” she said. “None of the other candidates are making any significant recommendations for accountability.”

If she is elected mayor, Scharf would create an Inspector General’s office to investigate locally operated government-funded agencies including city hall, for Ottawa police, hospitals and the Children’s Aid Society. Scharf said an inspector general would ultimately save the city money by reducing corruption.
