School board employees on leave upon porn allegations

Some Vancouver school board employees have been placed on administrative leave after porn was allegedly found on their computers.

The Vancouver School Board is in the midst of an investigation into the issue, according to spokesperson David Weir.

“Vancouver School Board Unions have been notified that there is an investigation underway and those involved have been placed on leave with pay,” Weir said.

“Students were not in any risk at any point,” added Weir. “This is not a criminal investigation, it is strictly an internal one.”

The Vancouver School Board operates 125 worksites, not all of which are schools. Board officials are not saying whether the worksite in question is a school.

A spokesperson for the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation said the union is aware of the investigation, but would not comment until its officials gather more information.

The names of those involved have not been released and the board did not say how many staff members were placed on leave.
