A government expenditure exercise has the Nova Scotia School Boards Association scratching its head.

As part of the Back to Balance program, school boards across the province were asked to determine the impact of a three-year, $200-million cut to public education.

Boards were shocked to discover a 22 per cent decrease in funding.

While Nova Scotia’s eight school boards will participate in the exercise, they said in a press release they find the amount of time dedication to the Expenditure Measures Initiative disconcerting.
