Scott Walker scores in OT as Carolina eliminates Boston in Game 7

BOSTON – Scott Walker scored 18:46 into overtime, as the Carolina Hurricanes edged the Boston Bruins 3-2 in Game 7 of their NHL playoff series.

The Hurricanes go on to face the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference final. The teams traded goals in the opening period, with Byron Bitz scoring for the Bruins, and Rod Brind’Amour tying it for Carolina. Sergei Samsonov made it 2-1 for the Hurricanes in the second, and Milan Lucic tied it for the Bruins at 6:19 of the third.

Carolina’s Cam Ward and his Bruins counterpart Tim Thomas each made 34 saves.
