Seaside perfection

Imagine waking up early one morning, when everything is quiet. You make a cup of tea, and carry the steaming mug onto the deck. Below you, the waves of the Bedford Basin are lapping at the shore. You curl up on a comfortable chair, listening to the sound of the water, and let your day begin slowly.

Seaside living has been perfected at The Edgewater. Located on Bedford’s beautiful Shore Drive, these one- and two-bedroom condominiums have the relaxed, beachy elegance of a home in Montauk.

Model suite designer Denise Hermanson, of Denise Hermanson Design, was so inspired by the view that she based her design off the waters of the Bedford Basin.

“I incorporated the water into the space by using blues, browns and creams,” said Hermanson, who designed the space with both young and retired couples in mind. “There is a unifying cohesion through the use of colour and texture.”

From the aqua chairs in the living room to the chocolate-and-aqua bedding in the master bedroom, you can spot the soothing tones of the ocean throughout the model suite. She jazzed up the bathroom with bright polka-dotted accessories, and tied it to the rest of the space by using blue stone bathroom accessories.

When it came time to organize the furnishings in the space, Hermanson said she didn’t have to think twice about placement.

“There was no question that I was basing the layout around the great views of the water.”
Since the living/dining area is a large, open space, she chose pieces that were functional, but also easy to move around. Two ottomans near the coffee table provide extra seating but take up hardly any space, and the dining room chairs can slid neatly into the living room to create a larger conversational area.

Tucked just off the Bedford Highway, Shore Drive is a tree-lined street at the water’s edge. Steps away from the Bedford Yacht Club, The Edgewater is a picturesque piece of waterfront property — and has the privacy to enjoy it quietly. Condominiums at The Edgewater range from 670 to 932 square feet, and cost between $159,000 and $239,000.
