Seawall repairs approved

Halifax regional council has voted to approve emergency repairs to the North West Arm seawall to rectify a situation that area Coun. Linda Mosher said is putting lives on the line.

“The bottom line is the wall is falling down, it needs to be replaced,” Mosher said yesterday.

Funding has been put aside for the seawall’s repair since 2005, to the tune of $250,000.

The emergency repairs will not address the long-term problem, according to HRM’s director of infrastructure Phil Townsend, but will deal with the immediate safety concerns for residents using the Dingle park.
